You probably have seen the BFBLN bumper stickers, posters, or t-shirts and tote bags around promoting "Buy Fresh Buy Local®." It's not just a marketing program, it's a philosophy that directs Buy Fresh Buy Local® Nebraska members in rebuilding local economics, starting with economies of food and food raised through environmentally sound methods.

Healthy Herbs


Now is a great time to start planting herbs. Adding fresh herbs to foods is a quick way to transform ordinary meals into extraordinary meals. They flavor foods when cutting back on salt, fat and sugar. Plus, herbs have antioxidants that may help protect against such diseases as cancer and heart disease.

ChooseMyPlate Update


The USDA unveiled ChooseMyPlate as the new food guideline to replace MyPyramid. The USDA's updated website states that, "MyPlate illustrates the five food groups using a familiar mealtime visual, a place setting. Here's a short (1 minute) overview, "Choose MyPlate Update," of the new food guideline.
